OVERVIEW
Being a member of a high school sports team is a rewarding experience, but is one that requires dedication and commitment. Below is a brief look at our overall program. If you have any questions, or if you would like to discuss anything in greater detail, please feel free to contact me at any time.
I look forward to working with you in the years to come.

ACADEMICS
While athletics is an important part of the high school experience, we must remember that our athletes are students first. Success in the classroom must occur before any success can be achieved on the playing fields. Our coaches are committed to ensuring that our student-athletes succeed both in the classroom and in the athletic arena.
COMMITMENT
- Practices and games take place during the school week. They are also held on weekends and over school vacations. Attendance at all team activities is a requirement for all of our teams.
- Our state association (CIAC) does not permit student-athletes to participate on any non-school teams during the same season in which they are playing high school sports. As an example, a student-athlete participating in boys’ soccer in the fall cannot participate on a travel soccer team until the NHHS season is over. This rule is often the source of confusion for many freshman parents. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

PRACTICE/TRYOUT START DATES
REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
Prior to participating in tryouts, practices or games, all students must register on FamilyID (https://hello.familyid.com/) where the following forms must be completed and/or signed:
- Sports physical (All physicals are valid for 13 months)
- Medical History
- Parent Permission Slip
- Academic Requirements for Student-Athletes
- Attendance Policy
- Athletic Transportation Policy
- Athletic Code of Conduct
- Spectator Code of Conduct
- Social Media Guidelines for Student-Athletes
- Photo/Video Release
- Concussion Informed Consent Form
- Sudden Cardiac Arrest Consent Form
To register, parents/guardians should create an account. When you electronically submit your completed registration form, it is sent directly to the North Haven High School Nurse. The school nurse will review the completed registration form to confirm that everything is completed and signed by the parent/guardian and the student.
A new FamilyID registration form is required for every athletic season (Fall, Winter, Spring) of the school year. In order to be eligible for the first day of tryouts, completed registration forms must be submitted to the school nurse 48 hours before the start of the season (before the first day of tryouts). Forms not submitted within the specified time frame may result in the prospective student-athlete not being eligible for the start of tryouts. *Please note: anyone submitting a registration form the same day tryouts/practice begins will not become eligible until the following weekday.
NHHS SPORTS BOOSTER CLUBS
The Booster Clubs that support the athletes & teams within the NHHS Athletics Department are non-profit, volunteer organizations whose sole purpose is to support the student-athletes who participate in the boys’ and girls’ sports programs at our school.
INDIVIDUAL TEAM BOOSTER GROUPS/PARENT ASSOCIATIONS
It has been a common practice for many years that specific athletic programs within the athletic department have a bank account that are separate from North Haven Public Schools. These bank accounts are unaffiliated with the school district and are always managed by a person unaffiliated with the school district or the athletic program, such as a parent. A coach of the North Haven Athletics Department is not permitted to manage an account like this. Additionally, these bank accounts must have a name that is very different from the sport it supports. For example, instead of being called "NHHS Name of Sport," the account should be called “Friends of NHHS Name of Sport.”
